Dear Valued Customers,
Thank you for your business and continued interest in Mircom’s Fire Alarm Systems.
The FX-400/FX-401 Firmware and Configurator have been updated to SO-434 V2.1.12 and MSW-045 V2.1.5 respectively. Going forward, all newly produced panels will be equipped with this firmware and configurator version or a higher one. The latest panel firmware and configurator introduce enhancements to existing functionality, along with new programming features designed to streamline and accelerate panel setup.
Old Version | New Version | |
---|---|---|
Panel Firmware (SO-434) | 2.1.10 | 2.1.12 |
Panel Configurator (MSW-045) | 2.1.3 | 2.1.5 |
The latest released firmware and configurator version include the following:
- Correction for Positive Alarm Sequence (PAS) operations. All FX-400/FX-401 panels using PAS operations must be running panel firmware version SO-434 V2.1.12 or later.
- Improved device LED operations to mirror panel condition.
- Improved synchronization between NAC devices during resounding condition.
- Enhanced smoke detector obscuration level reporting, by adding sensitivity level within the displayed report.
- Adjusted reporting conditions of alarm status for a MIX-4020 during device functionality testing: Magnet activation will activate both smoke and heat inputs, heat test will only activate the heat input, and smoke canister testing will only activate the smoke input.
- Added ability to display a trouble condition when an auxiliary relay is active.
- Improved configurator for older jobs being imported into newer configurator.
- Ability to convert an existing FX-400 job file to an FX-401 job.
- Added checkbox to auto-correlate detector sounder base with detector head.
The additional features for programming simplification are the following (available through panel firmware SO-434 V2.1.12 and configurator MSW-045 V2.1.5. Must be accompanied by minimum loop driver firmware of SO-435 V1.0.29):
- Auto Configuration: Available through the main display menu options on the FX-400/FX-401, which results in correlating all detected input devices on the SLC to all NACs.
- Modify Mode: Available through the configurator menu, under the “Panel” tab, provides a real time view of the existing job available on the connected panel. Subsequently, quick updates to the panel’s existing job, such as update to options, tags, correlations and device types, can be made through “Quick Updates” also available in the “Panel” tab and when in “Modify Mode”.
- CSV Tag Updates: Through this option, the csv format of the job file can be extracted from the configurator, hence allowing changes to device tags within the csv file format. Then through importing the updated csv file to the configurator, the user will see the reflected changes in the configurator job file.
To find the firmware/configurator compatibility table, the “Help” tab in the configurator can be selected. Then “About MGC-400 Series Configurator Utility” can be selected. The table can be found by selecting the “Firmware Compatibility” option.

Please note that if your panel does not require any of the newly introduced features shown above, and its firmware and configurator versions are compatible according to the compatibility table, no upgrade to the firmware or configurator is necessary. To identify the firmware version of the panel, please refer to the sticker label found on the carton box of the panel or the mainboard.

Other Enhancements:
- Improved Class A & B (Style 7 & Style 4) SLC short detection and reporting. This enhancement is available for all units produced moving forward and with a loop driver FW, SO-435 V1.0.39 or higher.
- Improved main display push button responsiveness. This enhancement is available for all units produced moving forward and with a display FW, SO-243 V1.0.24 or higher.
Note: SO-435 V1.0.39 and SO-243 V1.0.24 are part of this release and are not present in any current panel.
