Mircom is releasing upgraded firmware.
The new version number follows –
FIRMWARE | VERSION |
All OpenBAS NX controllers, OpenBAS-HV-LEARN and OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3 | 3.17.0 |
Note: Please read this entire document before upgrading systems to ensure all compatibility issues are addressed and to ensure correct upgrade procedures are followed.
New Features
- Ensure Compliance: NX Series controllers with firmware version 3.17.0 have been listed by BACnet International/BTL, providing peace of mind and meeting project requirements.
- Boost Efficiency with Batch Programming: Quickly and easily configure multiple controllers from script at once, reducing manual effort and saving time.
- Rest easy now that scripts are automatically backed up on site*.
- Prepare scripts in advance with offline controller management and script compilation support.
- Enhanced Scripting Power: Configure your system with greater flexibility and precision using the new “Config” keyword facilitating script-based configuration of communication and dynamic memory settings, expanded Remote points and much more.
- Script programming now supported on OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3.
- Leverage BACnet/MSTP Integration: Expand your system capabilities with BACnet/MSTP Remote point support on OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3, enabling countless more integration options.
*Requires USB flash memory connected to main OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3
Batch Programming
Users can now select multiple controllers to Configure from script, all at once.
Requirements:
- User must create and work within a Project when using the System Design Studio.
- At least one OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3 is needed and must have a USB flash memory connected.
Related new features:
- Scripts are automatically sent to the Main OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3 (assuming USB flash memory connected) after a Successful Configure from script process, ensuring an on-site copy in addition to the technician’s copy.
- Add or remove controllers, create and test-compile scripts completely offline to avoid unnecessary surprises on site.
- Easily import a project with all scripts from the main OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3 on site.
Process:
- Use the Create/Edit script, Copy script, and Paste script features from each controllers right click context menu to create script files for each controller as necessary.
- Hint: Use Shift + Click or Ctrl + Click to select multiple controllers to paste to.
- Periodically, or as needed, right click the Project item from the side panel and select Check script status. Any controllers with script files will show an icon indicating if the controller has been configured from its current script.
- Select which controllers to Batch configure from script, right click any of the selected controllers and select Configure from script. The Batch configure from script dialogue will open.
- The Data to load section allows users to deselect parts of the script to be skipped during the Configure from script process. A common use case is when updating PLC logic on site, but end users have likely made changes to their Setpoints.
- Select Start to begin the Compile + Configure process for all selected (blue icon) controllers.
Script Programming Improvements
Virtually every setting can now be configured, directly from the script file, including script programming support for the OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3. A new “config” keyword enables configuration of Communication settings, Dynamic memory settings, and expanded Remote points as well as point value limits, alarms, daylight savings and more. Examples can be found in the C:\OpenBAS\Examples\ folder after installation of SDS 2.0.0, and more details can be found in LT-6631 – OpenBAS EZ-Script Programming Manual.
BACnet/MSTP Remote Points on OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3
Users can now configure BACnet/MSTP Remote points on COM1 of the OpenBAS-NWK-ETH3. Nine object types are supported including Analog inputs, Analog outputs, Analog values, Binary inputs, Binary outputs, Binary values, Multi-state inputs, Multi-state outputs, and Multi-state values. The configuration process has not changed, however one key point to remember is that points coming from OpenBAS slave controllers must be set as discoverable. Points are set as discoverable automatically during the Configure from script process, or they can be manually set as discoverable within the Configuration->Communication tab under the Others header.
