Baladna Dairy Farm & Park plays a crucial role in Qatar’s national food security strategy. Covering 382,000 sqm, the facility produces a wide range of dairy products using advanced technology and sustainable practices. As a prominent player in the country’s agricultural landscape, Baladna also serves as a tourist destination.
Project Background & Scope
The expansive site comprises multiple building types including barns, cold storage, accommodation, and processing areas. To protect these facilities, 24 Mircom FlexNet Series fire alarm panels were installed and networked via copper cables. Of these, eight FX-2000MNS panels provide integrated fire alarm, voice evacuation, and emergency communication systems, compliant with UL 864 and UL 2572 standards. LED mimic panels and LCD annunciators are positioned at security gates for enhanced monitoring.
Challenge
Launched in response to Qatar’s 2017 food security initiative, the project had an aggressive timeline. The wide range of building uses and occupancy types ranging from livestock barns to cold storage required a flexible, high-performance fire alarm system capable of handling varied detection needs under strict regulatory oversight.
The Mircom Solution
The UL Listed, FM Approved FlexNet system fulfilled all NFPA 72 and QCDD requirements. Its Boolean logic capability supported a complex cause-and-effect matrix, integrating with systems like PA, fire pumps, LPG systems, and mechanical ventilation. The ARCnet protocol ensured a stable, fail-safe peer-to-peer network across all 24 panels. FlexNet’s Node Grouping feature allowed scalable and customized configuration for local or global control as needed.

Mircom delivered a technically robust and regulatory-compliant system. The Boolean logic engine enabled flexible automation, and the peer-to-peer network provided high reliability. Based on system performance and reliability, the client awarded ESD a Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) contract, underscoring confidence in Mircom’s solution.
